Ten questions to ask before you reserve an off-plan unit

Off-plan means buying before the building is finished. These are the questions we put to every developer on your behalf.

About the developer

1. What has this developer delivered before, and can we visit a finished project? A track record you can walk through is worth more than a rendering.

2. Were earlier projects handed over on the promised date? We ask owners, not only the sales office.

About the unit

3. What exactly is included at handover: finishing, kitchen, air conditioning, or bare walls? The same price can mean very different things.

4. What is the delivery date in the contract, and what happens if it is missed?

5. What are the yearly maintenance and service charges, and how are they set?

About the money

6. What is the full payment schedule, with every instalment and its date, in writing?

7. Which currency is the contract in, and can instalments be paid from abroad?

8. What does it cost to cancel or to resell before delivery?

About the paperwork

9. Can an independent lawyer review the contract before any payment? The answer should always be yes.

10. How and when is ownership registered in your name? Your lawyer, not the sales office, should confirm this for your own situation.

You do not have to ask alone

When you buy through SOC Real Estate we ask all ten for every unit on your shortlist and send you the answers in writing.
